- Liverpool’s Takumi Minamino has joined Southampton on loan

DONE DEAL: King to Everton
The Joshua King saga is over and he lands at Goodison Park. The striker signs a short-term deal to join from Bournemouth for a nominal fee.
He’ll be hoping to add to his tally of 48 Premier League goals at Everton, where he will be able to play in several attacking roles.
DONE DEAL: Minamino to Southampton
Another confirmed move as Liverpool’s Takumi Minamino links up with Southampton for the rest of the season.
The Saints do not have an option to sign the Japan international permanently and could pay up to £500,000 for his six-month temporary switch.
Southampton will pay the 26-year-old attacker’s wages in full.
DONE DEAL: Maja to Fulham
After seeing Joshua King snub them to join Everton, Fulham have signed former Sunderland striker Josh Maja on loan from Bordeaux.
Maja spent three years in Fulham’s academy after joining aged 11 and has an option to move to Craven Cottage permanently in the summer for just shy of £9m.
He said: “I’m really excited and proud to sign for Fulham on loan for the remainder of the season.
“This is a big opportunity and I look forward to meeting up with the team and working hard to achieve positive results.”
King deal done
It hasn’t been officially announced yet but Sky Sports News are saying that Joshua King’s move to Everton is done.
Bournemouth agreed deals with both Fulham and Everton but the striker chose the Toffees.
Everton are claimed to have offered King a six-month contract and he will cost around £5million per reports.
The Championship side preferred to cash in now rather than lose the 29-year-old on a free in the summer.
A deal sheet has been submitted for Takumi Minamino’s move to Southampton, giving the Saints a few extra hours to get a deal done.
The Japan international is undergoing a medical currently and there are not expected to be any hitches.
Provided a deal gets completed, Liverpool attacker cannot play against Manchester United tomorrow night but could face Newcastle on Saturday.
DONE DEAL: Willock to Newcastle
And right on cue…
THE JANUARY TRANSFER WINDOW IS CLOSED!
That’s the 11pm deadline. Of course, there’s still a few deals that will have been completed but have not yet been announced.
Liverpool’s Takumi Minamino going on loan to Southampton, Joe Willock joining Newcastle on a temporary basis and Joshua King heading to Bournemouth are among them.
DONE DEAL: Maitland-Niles to West Brom
Ainsley Maitland-Niles has joined up with West Brom on a six-month loan. The Baggies do not have an option to sign the player permanently.
Fresh King twist
Another twist in the Josh King saga! The Bournemouth striker is now Everton bound, say BBC Sport.
A short-term permanent deal will be signed in a £5million deal to take the forward to Goodison Park.
It’s been a whirlwind few hours for the Norwegian, who appeared likely to move to Fulham earlier this evening.
Matip injury blow
Despite signing Ben Davies and Ozan Kabak today, there’s bad news for Liverpool as they announce Joel Matip’s season is over.
The Cameroonian sustained ankle ligament damage in last week’s win over Tottenham.
He becomes the third Liverpool centre-back this season to be ruled out for the rest of the campaign after Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez.
DONE DEAL: Kabak to Liverpool
Liverpool have completed the loan signing of Ozan Kabak from Schalke subject to international clearance.
The 20-year-old defender joins for £1million and can make his move permanent in the summer at the cost of £18m.
Jurgen Klopp said: “For him, I think it’s a really good moment to make the move because, like each player in the world, you need a stable team around you and that’s what we can deliver.
“We deliver a stable team and you can play your position, you don’t have to be 20 with pretty much everything on the pitch and not allowed to make mistakes anymore.
“He’s really a big, big talent and we are really looking forward to working with him.”
Everton’s King blow
Fulham are poised to beat Everton to the signing of Bournemouth striker Joshua King according to the Telegraph.
With Cenk Tosun going out on loan, the Toffees have left themselves thin up top with Dominic Calvert-Lewin their only natural centre forward.
If Fulham win the race to sign King it will be a morale-boosting swoop as they seek to avoid an immediate return to the Championship.
Takumi Minamino to Southampton
Southampton are said to have agreed a loan deal to take out-of-favour Liverpool attacker Takumi Minamino to St Mary’s for the rest of the season.
Fabrizio Romano said on Twitter: “The agreement between Southampton and Liverpool for Takumi Minamino is ‘imminent’ – as per @David_Ornstein. Deal expected to be completed on loan. #lfc #DeadlineDay.”
Klopp on Davies
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said of the Reds’ new addition Ben Davies this evening: “I think it’s probably clear that in a normal transfer window, without any issues, we would not look at Preston [to see] if there’s a player for us or something like that. It’s not really likely.
“But since we saw him and since our situation got clearer and clearer – the problems we had – when we saw him we got really excited about it and thought, ‘Wow.’ He’s a boy who played his whole life for Preston, is around the corner pretty much.
“We see the potential really. We see the quality and we see the potential as well because he’s 25 and there’s a lot to come for him. I love a lot about his play.
“He’s a really good footballer, looks like a proper leader in this Preston team, good in challenges, looks football smart, can play different positions because he played in a back three and a back four and all these things.
“That makes him really interesting so I’m really looking forward to working with him. I know for him it’s an opportunity and I see it exactly the same for us, that it’s a really good thing to do.”
Everton agree Josh King fee
Everton have followed up their enquiry to Bournemouth about Joshua King with a bid after Cenk Tosun’s loan return to Besiktas was officially confirmed.
The Toffees have made an approach as look to add King to their forward line before the transfer window closes at 11pm tonight.
And Football Insider say Everton and Bournemouth have reached an agreement worth around £5million to £6m.
The Norway international is out of contract with the Cherries in the summer and is now discussing personal terms to move to Goodison Park.
It comes after Tosun’s return to Turkey was announced by Everton.

CONFIRMED: Ben Davies to Liverpool
Done deal, Davies is a Liverpool player. He signs a long-term contract and takes the No 28 shirt at Anfield and says: “I’m obviously delighted to be here.
“It’s a huge opportunity. Obviously it came as a bit of a surprise when it first came but once you start to get your head around it, the opportunity that is in front of me is incredible.
“I’d be silly to not make the most of it and learn off the players [at the club].”

Joe Willock loan
That’s not the only Arsenal deal set to be confirmed this evening with it thought that Joe Willock is to join Steve Bruce’s Newcastle on loan.
An agreement is in place per BBC Sport and an announcement should be made in the coming hours.
Maitland-Niles to West Brom
Ainsley Maitland-Niles is one step closer to sealing a loan move away from Arsenal after completing his medical in London to join West Brom – and his debut could well come against Tottenham this weekend.
The Athletic report that it’s too late for Maitland-Niles to be included in West Brom’s squad to face Sheffield United on Tuesday.
But the midfielder should be in contention to make his debut against the Gunners’ bitter rivals Spurs on Sunday.
There is no option for the Baggies to buy the player permanently once his temporary move comes to an end.
Michael Edwards masterstroke
Liverpool sporting director Michael Edwards has done his magic again in signing defender Ozan Kabak on loan from Schalke.

Cenk Tosun confirmed
Everton striker Cenk Tosun’s loan move to Besiktas has been confirmed by the Toffees.
The 29-year-old striker rejoins the same time from which he moved to Merseyside back in January 2018.
Tosun has made 49 appearances for the Blues and scored nine goals since then but was out of favour under Carlo Ancelotti.
Roy Hodgson speaks out
Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson claims he has heard nothing from Arsenal all day despite speculation linking Patrick Van Aanholt with a move to the Emirates.
“There was no contact that I know of,” he said. “Is Patrick Van Aanholt a good enough player to play for Arsenal? Yes, he is.
“But I think he is good enough to play for a lot of clubs, not least our own. This is where he is contracted and this is where I am expecting him to stay.”
Similarly Christian Benteke will travel with the rest of the squad to Newcastle on Tuesday after firm interest in the Belgium striker failed to materialise despite interest expressed by West Brom manager Sam Allardyce.
“There is speculation about a lot of players, but Christian and I know exactly where we stand with each other and I am happy that he is staying with us,” Hodgson insisted.
Indeed, Palace’s only real piece of business was to extend the contract of goalkeeper Vincente Gaiata until June 2023 with an option of another year. The move for the 34-year-old fends off interest from Real Sociedad.

Kabak saying goodbyes as ‘deal done’
Ozan Kabak is a done deal according to Gianluca Di Marzio, with only an official announcement to be done.
The Liverpool-bound defender is reportedly saying his farewells to his Schalke team-mates having completed a medical and signed a contract.

It’s thought the Reds have an option to sign him for £18million plus add-ons later this year and have paid just £1m for his six-month loan.
Arsenal transfer meeting
Mikel Arteta and technical director Edu have reportedly told Ainsley Maitland-Niles that he can leave Arsenal today, permitting it is not to a Premier League rival.
The 23-year-old is desperate for regular playing time ahead of the Euros this summer and wants to leave the club on loan to bid for a spot in Gareth Southgate’s England squad.
Leicester, Southampton, Newcastle and West Brom are all interested and Sky Sports’ Emma Paton said: “In the last five minutes, we actually understand that Mikel Arteta and Ainsley Maitland-Niles have had another conversation.
“It was a 20-minute meeting with Arteta, Maitland-Niles and technical director Edu of course. Maitland-Niles has said ‘look I want to leave, I want to get game time.’
“He of course, has only started five Premier League games so far this season for Arsenal. He really wants to be part of Gareth Southgate’s plans for the Euros in the summer.
“They had this 20-minute meeting but Arteta and Edu told the player ‘look, we are willing to let you leave but not to a Premier League rival’.
“This morning we told you that four clubs were interested in taking Maitland-Niles on loan, one of those is Leicester so that you assume is that Premier League rival.
“Another club was Southampton but it looks like cold water has been poured over that one. They were looking for cover at wing-back but Ainsley Maitland-Niles wants to play in midfield, that is his preferred position.
“West Brom look like they are leading the race to get Ainsley Maitland-Niles at the club.”
Transfer deadline day LIVE: Kabak Liverpool ‘done deal’, Ben Davies latest, Arsenal exits
Kabak passes Liverpool medical
Ozan Kabak is going through his Liverpool contract in Schalke’s offices having completed his medical ahead of his proposed loan move to Anfield. The Turkish international is set to seal a last-gasp switch to the Premier League champions on deadline day after passing his medical.
Sky Germany‘s Max Bielefeld told Sky Sports News: “It’s edging closer the Kabak deal to Liverpool. We understand he passed his medical in Gelsenkirchen today.
“He’s currently in the offices of Schalke to go through the details of the contract with Liverpool.
“There was one condition, that Schalke needed a replacement and we just got the information that Shkodran Mustafi terminated his contract with Arsenal.
“He already agreed personal terms with Schalke, so normally, they should get the replacement of Ozan Kabak in before the 5pm deadline here in Germany.
“That means the lights are going to get green for Kabak to go to Liverpool and to close the deal.
“We understand it will be a loan plus option to buy, not an obligation as reported elsewhere.”

EXCLUSIVE: Wimbledon consider Emma Hayes
AFC Wimbledon are considering an astonishing approach to make Emma Hayes English football’s first senior woman manager, Express Sport understands.
Chelsea women’s team manager Hayes has an extraordinary record and her side thrashed Tottenham 4-0 on Sunday to stay top of the table and have now gone 33 games unbeaten in the Women’s Super League.
Dons manager Glyn Hodges left the club by mutual consent on Saturday night after the 2-0 defeat by MK Dons left them 21st in League One, with just one win from their last 13 games.
But Hayes faces major competition for the job, with other names in the frame as the Dons look to replace Hodges including another former player in Ian Holloway, who left Grimsby in December, ex-England star Sol Campbell, Morecambe manager Derek Adams, former Fleetwood boss Joey Barton, and National League Boreham Wood’s Luke Garrard, another ex-Don.
Everton’s Josh King enquiry

King is out of contract in the summer and has also attracted interest from the likes of Southampton, West Ham and Fulham.
The Norway international has only made 12 Championship appearances this season and has yet to score a goal, though managed three in two FA Cup games.
The Toffees have long-standing interest in King and BBC Sport say an enquiry has been made although a bid has yet to be put on the table.

Dele Alli’s proposed move to Paris Saint-Germain has falled through and he will now likely stay at Tottenham.
Jose Mourinho has frozen the England international out of his plans but Alli has not been allowed to be reunited with Mauricio Pochettino in the French capital.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano tweeted: “Dele Alli to PSG deal is *not* happening. Definitely collapsed.
“The player was pushing to leave Spurs but Tottenham refused to let him go because they didn’t find a replacement. It’s over.”
Dele Alli’s proposed Tottenham exit has fallen through
Roy Hodgson addresses Patrick van Aanholt to Arsenal
Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson has backed Patrick van Aanholt to succeed at Arsenal should the Gunners come knocking.
However, the ex-England manager has not heard of any firm interest from north London.

“This is where he is contracted and where I expect him to stay.”
Schalke want Arsenal star Shkodran Mustafi
Schalke defender Ozan Kabak’s deadline day move to Liverpool could rely on the Bundesliga club securing Arsenal star Shkodran Mustafi as his replacement, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

However, Schalke will not sanction a transfer until they have brought in a replacement.

Liverpool have planned a medical for Ozan Kabak
Man Utd rule out Dzeko
Manchester United won’t be signing Roma striker Edin Dzeko on transfer deadline day, Express Sport understands.
Reports in Italy had claimed earlier in the day that the Red Devils have made an approach for the 34-year-old.
But, despite losing Odion Ighalo, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer won’t be swooping for the Bosnia international.
United are, however, committed to backing Solskjaer in the long run – and full details can be found here.
Arsenal interested in Patrick van Aanholt
Arsenal are yet to make a move for Patrick van Aanholt but that could change before tonight’s 11pm deadline, according to reports.
Mikel Arteta’s side are in need of recognised left-back cover following the loan departure of Sead Kolasinac earlier in the window.
The Athletic say there has been no contact between the Gunners and Van Aanholt.
However, that may change before the 11pm deadline tonight as they search for cover for Kieran Tierney.
Liverpool plan Ozan Kabak medical
Liverpool have planned a medical for Schalke defender Ozan Kabak in Germany – but they are in a race again time to get the deal done.
The German transfer window slams shut at 5pm so Schalke have until then to bring in a replacement.
Kabak is ready to join Jurgen Klopp’s squad on loan until the end of the season. Sky Sports News claim there will be an option to buy included in the deal.

The 25-year-old is on Merseyside to complete his medical this morning.

Man Utd make Edin Dzeko move
Man Utd have reportedly made contact with Edin Dzeko’s agent with the view of making a deadline day transfer.

And Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is apparently keen to bolster is firepower as he looks to challenge for the Premier League title.
Tottenham backed to sign Diego Costa
Tottenham have been suggested as a possible destination for ex-Chelsea hitman Diego Costa.
Jose Mourinho is currently without star striker Harry Kane due to an ankle injury he picked up in the 3-1 loss to Liverpool.
And former England right-back Danny Mills believes Costa would be a good short-term solution.
“There’s also Diego Costa still out there, you know,” Mills told Football Insider.
“Okay, he’s got one or two issues that you have to deal with Diego Costa but as a short-term measure from now to the end of the season I’m surprised nobody has taken a gamble on him. With his record which is outstanding.”
Everton target Ivan Perisic
Everton reportedly want to sign Ivan Perisic before the close of the transfer window tonight.
Football Insider claim Ancelotti wants to bring in the Inter Milan star, with fellow winger Bernard set to leave the club on loan.
Bernard is linked with a move to Dubai-based club Al-Nasr after making just six Premier League appearances so far this season.
And Everton chiefs have identified Perisic as a replacement for the Brazilian.
Perisic has long been linked with a move to the Premier League, with Manchester United previously keen on the Croatian.
Arsenal look to offload Shkodran Mustafi
Arsenal are looking to offload Shkodran Mustafi today as Mikel Arteta has a large pool of defender at his disposal.
There was genuine interest from Liverpool but their attention appears to have to turn to Preston ace Ben Davies.
Mustafi earns around £90,000-per-week on his current deal meaning he would have to take a significant pay cut to join a Premier League rival.
Arsenal have held talks with the German about a mutual termination of his contract but to no avail.
They would welcome a move to Liverpool but the deal is complexed due to his wages.

Pochettino has offered him the chance to impress in Ligue 1 but Tottenham will not sanction the transfer without having a replacement ready.
Duje Caleta-Car transfer falls though
Liverpool were very close to sealing a move for Marseille’s Duje Caleta-Car last night.
According to RMC Sport, the 24-year-old was in ‘advanced negotiations’ with Liverpool over a late move in the January window.
And the report also states that he was Marignane airport until late on Sunday evening with a private jet on standby for him to travel to Manchester ahead of a move to Liverpool.
But negotiations are said to have failed at the final hurdle with Marseille unable to find a replacement in time.
Ben Davies medical
Preston defender Ben Davies is to undergo a medical at Liverpool this morning ahead of his £2million transfer.
Jurgen Klopp has not fit recognised senior centre-backs and has been desperately searching for cover.
Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Joel Matip and Fabinho are all sidelined so Davies is expected to complete his switch to provide cover.
The 25-year-old was set to join Celtic this summer but Liverpool have hijacked the deal by meeting Preston’s £2m asking price.
